Description: A fine set of four American Rococo Revival laminated rosewood side chairs in an elaborate special or custom pattern, attributed to John Henry Belter, New York, circa 1850-1860. Each shaped upholstered back is crowned by a flower-filled urn-form basket mounted against the crest and enclosed within intricate pierced grapevines, pendant clusters, flowers, leaves, and scrolling foliage. The upholstered seats stand above serpentine floral-carved rails and cabriole legs ending in scrolling feet. Offered as part of the seven-piece suite comprising Lots 72-75.
Dimensions: Each 37 in. H, 18 in. W, 19 in. D, 16 in. seat H.

Condition: Retain old polished surfaces with scattered scratches, abrasions, finish wear, darkening, and minor color variation. Backs exhibit age-related seams, small cracks, minor losses, patches, and old repairs or reinforcement to some crest and laminated elements. Excellent later red and gold woven damask upholstery presents with minimal visible wear.
